MP Doug Shipley announces $55,000 in federal funding for projects responding to COVID-19 challenges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 9 2021 – Doug Shipley, Member of Parliament for Barrie–Springwater–Oro-Medonte, announced $55,000 in funding to support Healthy Community initiatives in the riding.

 “Like so many others, our community has endured many hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am pleased to announce this funding which will support community projects as they continue to adapt to serve our community during this challenging time,” said MP Doug Shipley. “Our community has been extremely resourceful and resilient, and this funding will support organizations as they respond to the longer-lasting challenges arising from the pandemic.”

 Funding has been awarded to Copeland Forest Friends Association; Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer; and Barrie Public Art Committee, City of Barrie.

 The funding was awarded as part of the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative, which will provide up to $31 million in existing federal funding to support communities as they develop new ways to adapt spaces and services to respond to immediate and ongoing needs arising from COVID-19 over the next two years.
